Rare Pair of Famille Rose White-Ground Peranakan Plates
This particular pair of Peranakan white-ground plates with pink borders measuring 9 inches is extremely rare. They are uniformly decorated with the phoenix and peonies classic design, along with the Eight Buddhist Emblems on the borders and foliated gold gilded rims. White-ground diningware were commonly used by the Baba Nyonyas for their Tok Panjang feasts.

Famille Rose White-Ground dining set from the late 19th century, Nyonyaware. Finely decorated with the beautiful phoenix and peonies decoration, as well as the Eight Buddhist Emblems. It consists of 1 plate, 2 bowls with saucers, 1 teacup with saucer & 1 teaspoon.
A phoenix decorates this white-ground plate as a centrepiece. Beautiful phoenix and peonies decoration against a white-ground. The scalloped edges of this dining set are gilded in gold.
